The Five Whys technique is a great thing to use if you want to understand why something happened (or keeps happening), whether that's a current internal process or as part of a fundraising campaign review.

It’s based on creating a problem statement and then asking yourselves “why” five times to breakdown the problem.

After answering the ‘whys' you should be able to identify a counter-measure to stop the problem arising again. This may be a single or multiple actions.
