An empathy map is a simple tool used to help you document what you know about one of your audiences - such as a regular giver, major donor, service user or volunteer.
Each map represents an individual audience group and contains sections for different information points, including goals, needs, actions and pain points.
They are also really useful to use collaboratively across your charity, to get internal agreement. And they highlight where your gaps in knowledge of your audiences are too.
If you would like to learn more about empathy mapping, you can read our introduction to it here.
This template allows you carry out an empathy mapping exercise. We have included the instructions for how to run a session, plus the template itself.
