Daz In The Hat Radio Community Interest Company is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic second Music Submissions Co-ordinator to join our volunteer team and cover music submissions at the beginning of the week.
Daz In The Hat Radio CIC is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led internet radio station supporting unsigned and independent artists from around the world. We provide artists with opportunities to have their music heard while giving volunteers the chance to gain valuable practical experience within radio and the music industry.
The Role
The Music Submissions Co-ordinator will help manage music submitted to the station for potential airplay. Responsibilities will include:
Downloading and processing music submitted to the station.
Acknowledging music received directly from unsigned and independent artists.
Checking submitted tracks for suitable audio quality.
Ensuring music complies with station guidelines, including no profanity, hate speech or discriminatory content.
Checking and editing track metadata where required, ensuring information such as artist name, track title and album details is correctly entered.
Organising processed music and distributing it to station presenters for potential airplay.
Using your dedicated Daz In The Hat Radio station email address for station business.
Working alongside the other Music Submissions Co-ordinator and wider station team.
Music Confidentiality
Volunteers working with Music Submissions may keep copies of submitted music for their own personal enjoyment.
However, music supplied to the station must never be sold, shared, distributed or passed to anyone outside Daz In The Hat Radio CIC.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
Reliable and able to work their agreed Monday–Tuesday/Wednesday schedule.
Organised and comfortable working independently from home.
Confident downloading, organising and managing digital audio files.
Able to pay close attention to audio quality and metadata.
Interested in music, particularly unsigned and independent artists.
Comfortable communicating professionally with artists and other members of the station.
Willing to join the station’s WhatsApp Group and participate in regular video team calls.
Ideally able to commit to volunteering with the station for at least one year.
Previous radio or music industry experience would be useful but is not essential, as training will be provided.
Training & Support
Full training will be offered, so applicants do not need previous experience of processing music submissions.
Training can be provided online or face-to-face, depending on the volunteer’s location.
Volunteers will receive guidance on the station’s music submission procedures, quality checks, metadata, file management and distribution of music to presenters.
Ongoing support will also be available from the station team.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to gain practical experience in radio, music submissions, digital audio management and artist liaison while directly supporting unsigned and independent musicians from around the world.
Volunteers receive:
Online or face-to-face training, depending on location.
Their own Daz In The Hat Radio station email address.
Practical experience that can strengthen their CV.
Experience working as part of an international remote radio team.
Opportunities to develop knowledge of the independent music and radio industries.
A reference on request, where appropriate.
An Amazon Gift Card on their birthday as a thank you for their contribution.
We ideally ask volunteers to remain with the station for at least one year, allowing them to gain meaningful experience, become established within the team and make a real contribution to the station and the unsigned artists we support.
Help us discover, process and promote the next generation of independent artists.
