Alongside page speed, a key element to understand is how mobile friendly your website is.

Back in May 2019 Google prioritised mobile search so it’s become imperative that your site is mobile friendly. More people now use a mobile device to access the web than a traditional desktop. In the US alone, adults spend nearly 6 hours a day on their mobiles. Mobile commerce makes up 73% of total ecommerce sales. And half of ALL video views come from a mobile device.

Mobile first essentially means that Google will now use your websites MOBILE version for indexing and ranking.
